Today’s dinner is a comforting and slightly nostalgic Japanese home-style meal.

On the left is miso soup made with napa cabbage and chopped fried tofu that were left in the freezer.
Using small portions of vegetables like this is very typical in everyday home cooking.

In the centre is sweet potato rice, which I have not made in a while.
Sweet potato rice is a seasonal dish in Japan and is often associated with autumn, bringing a gentle sweetness to the meal.

On the right is sweet and sour pork (subuta) made using a frozen set that I received from my family.
I added leftover onion, carrot, and green peppers to increase the amount of vegetables.

The total cost of today’s ingredients was 346 yen (before tax).
Japanese home cooking often blends homemade rice dishes with convenient frozen items to create balanced and economical meals.
