On the left is miso soup made with snow peas (150 yen) and kyo-hana-fu (Kyoto-style flower-shaped wheat gluten, 198 yen).

In the middle is discounted horse mackerel sashimi (319 yen, 20% off).

On the right is a stir-fry made with discounted salt-and-pepper grilled chicken breast cartilage (yagen nankotsu) (190 yen, half price) and some leftover Chinese chives. I added plenty of garlic for extra flavour.

Today’s ingredient cost was 857 yen.
