On the left is the leftover miso soup from yesterday, made with komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) and firm tofu.

In the middle is discounted wild-caught sea bass sashimi (416 yen, half price). I enjoyed it with ponzu citrus soy sauce and momiji oroshi, grated daikon mixed with chilli pepper for a refreshing spicy kick.

On the right is the leftover koya-dofu (freeze-dried tofu) simmered with egg from yesterday. The koya-dofu and frozen green beans were simmered in soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and dashi broth, then finished with beaten egg.

Today’s ingredient cost was 416 yen.
