From the dinner table on Wednesday, June 17.

On the left is a samjang soup made with discounted large clams (199 yen, half price) and Chinese chives that were left in the freezer. It is a Korean-style soup with a slightly spicy flavour, finished with a touch of sesame oil.

In the middle is tatsuta-age made with discounted mackerel (199 yen, half price).

On the right is hiyayakko made with the remaining piece from a two-pack of tofu. I topped it with green onions (98 yen) and bonito flakes, and enjoyed it with ponzu sauce and yuzu pepper paste.

Today’s ingredient cost was 496 yen.
